House Mouse Violets

I hope everyone had a great weekend.
We had a great Labor Day weekend!

I spent the whole weekend with my daughter and mother at
a Labor Day Festival in our hometown.

My mother makes handmade beaded jewelry.
She makes beautiful jewelry with real stones. Just beautiful!
We used to do it together, but I have given up my half of the
 booth to my daughter.

My daughter sold home made cupcakes that were the best!
White chocolate cake with white chocolate buttercream frosting,
Key Lime, and a fabulous Reece Cup like cupcake.  They are sooo good!
I don't even want to think about how many pounds I have put on
since she has started her baking business Life Is Sweet Treats.
I just help out with both of them now.

But today, I'm back to my favorite. . .scrapbooking and paper crafts.

I wanted to share my latest creation.
I think it might be my favorite.  That may just be because I used
my favorite flowers in the project. . . violets.  I just love them!

I used the sketch from the CLP Challenge Blog

I used my favorite House Mouse stamp.  Of course it would have violets.
I used the most beautiful papers from Maya Road and DCWV Chateau Lavender.
Some gorgeous lace and pretty glittering ribbon.

I used some chipboard that I recently received from a
really neat company that I just found - Stay True To God.
These are really nice people who have some wonderful wooden
cutouts, and some really fabulous papers, like the
Maya Road paper are which is from Sweden.
They don't carry the normal things everyone else does.  They carry some
different things that are really fun to use.  The only problem you might have with them, is knowing when to stop.  I just can't wait to reorder!

And I added some pretty violets.
Since I couldn't find any violets at the scrapbooking store,
I decided to make my own.

I used my Tim Holtz flower die, just the small one.
I picked two different kinds of purple scrap paper I had laying around.
After I use the die on the paper, I used the Versa Fine ink to
go around the edges of the small flowers.
Next I put the flower in water.  Just cover it with the water and take it out.
I know that sounds crazy, but it gets worse.
After the flower is soaked, wad it up in a small ball.
No, I'm really not kidding.  This really works.
After you get it wadded up, and please be careful.  Remember it is just paper.
Very carefully undo the petals of the flowers, and shape them.
You can add small yellow crystals to the center to make them look
more like violets.

You can use this technique for other flowers too.
You will need to use 2 or 3 different sizes of the flowers, some different patterns, and a brad.  After the flowers dry completely, punch a small hole in the center of the flowers and add a pretty brad for the flower center.
I have used it to make some really pretty shabby chic flowers.
GOOD LUCK!
